Tomato Tamarind Pickle recipe | Thakkali Oorugai is prepared with tomatoes and tamarind / puzhi with salt and other spices. It is a wonderful side dish for curd rice with ripen tomatoes.

Tomato Tamarind Pickle recipe – Ingredients:-
- Ripen tomatoes – 1 kg
- Tamarind – lemon size
- Red chilly powder – 2 tsp
- Salt – 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 3 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
- Gingely oil – 1 tsp
- Asafoetida – 1/2 tsp
Tomato Tamarind Pickle recipe – Method of preparation:-
1. Firstly wash, pat dry and chop tomatoes. Keep chopped tomatoes in a pan and heat in low flame without adding water for 20 minutes. Stir once in 5 minutes and it will be cooked in its own water.
10. Heat another pan with one tsp of gingely oil and add one tsp of mustard seeds. When it splutters add asafoetida and pour in the pickle. Refrigerate and can be used for several days.
