 Ingredients for Palak chutney recipe:-
  • spinach / palak – 1 bunch
  • oil – 2 tsp
  • channa dal / kadalai paruppu – 1 tsp
  • urad dal / ulundham paruppu – 1 tsp
  • cumin seeds / seeragam – 1 tsp
  • green chillies / pachai milagai – 4 number
  • ginger / inji – 1 inch (chopped)
  • grated coconut / thengai thuruval – 2 tsp
  • Tamarind paste / puzhi paste – 1 tsp
  • salt – to taste

Ingredients for tempering – Palak chutney recipe:-
  • oil – 1 tsp
  • mustard seeds / kadugu – 1/2 tsp
  • urad dal / ulundham paruppu – 1 tsp
  • asafoetida / perungayam – 1/4 tsp
  • red chilly / vara milagai – 1 (slit)
  • curry leaves / karuvepilai – few
Palak chutney recipe – Method of preparation:-

1. Firstly wash and chop Palak and keep it ready.

2. Secondly heat two tea spoons of oil in a fry pan and add Channa dal, urad dal, cumin seeds, green chillies and ginger subsequently.

 

3. Similarly add chopped palak and fry.

4. Most importantly cool the fried ingredients to room temperature. After that add grated coconut, tamarind paste and salt to the fried ingredients in a mixie jar.

5. Grind the ingredients and therefore you will get a smooth chutney.

6. Finally heat one tsp of oil in a fry pan and add mustard seeds and when it splutters add urad dal and asafoetida. Similarly add one chopped red chilly and curry leaves. Pour this tempering into the ground chutney and serve along with idli or dosa.
