Ganesh chathurthi is nearing and we all were in need of kolukattai/modak recipes. Many of us were hunting for different recipes through net. Paal kolukattai |Milk Modak recipe | பால் கொழுக்கட்டை செய்முறை will be a tastiest recipe, which I share with you all during this Ganesha festival, to prepare as prasadham.

This tasty Paal kolukattai recipe is prepared with rice flour, milk and sugar, which will be  sweet in taste and every one will like. We add milk and cardomom powder to improve the taste and flavour of the recipe. It is a very easy to prepare recipe if you follow the below instructions carefully.

You can also garnish with roasted and sliced nuts to the paal kolukattai which is optional. These kolukattai’s were usually served in cups with spoons, because the kolukattais were floated in sweetened milk.

Cuisine: South Indian

Preparation time: 30 minutes

To serve: 4 persons

Ingredients:-

  • rice flour – 1 cup
  • sugar – 1 cup
  • cow milk – 1 cup
  • coconut – 1 cup
  • cardomom powder – pinch

Method:-

1. Boil water and add it to rice flour when it is still hot. Knead well and make it into a smooth dough. Put it in a murukku maker and press to get a long rope like pieces. Cut it into one inch pieces to make kolukattai as shown in the photo. (You can also make round ball like kolukattai if you wish)

2.  Extract coconut milk from the grated coconut.

3. Heat cow milk in a container. When it is boiling put the kolukattai little by little. When it gets cooked, kolukattai will come up. (It will be half cooked already because we add boiling water to make the dough. Rest will be cooked in cow milk)

4. Now add sugar. After sugar melts add coconut milk and cardamom powder and switch of the stove.

5. Serve this Paal kolukattai along with milk in cups with spoons.
