Minced Chicken Egg kofta curry | kozhi Kola urundai

Minced Chicken Egg kofta curry | kozhi Kola urundai is a kofta or kheema balls prepared using minced chicken, egg, onion and other spices. Boiled in water mixed with curd and spices. These koftas were immersed in kuzhambu or other gravy to use as side dish for rice or roti.


For making Koftas –

  • Minced chicken – 500 gms
  • Egg – 1
  • Onion – 1 cup (chopped)
  • Ginger garlic paste/ inji poondu – 1 tsp
  • Red chilly powder/ milagai podi – 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Salt – to taste

For kofta to boil-

  • Water – 4 cups
  • Curd/ yoghurt/ thayir – 1 cup
  • Bay leaf – 1
  • Cinnomon stick/ pattai – 1 inch
  • Cloves/ kirambu – 5 number
  • Salt – to taste

1. If you get minced chicken it’s ok. Or else remove bones and grate it in a mixie and collect it in a bowl.

2. Now mix egg, chopped onion, ginger garlic paste, red chilly powder, Garam masala and required salt in a bowl and make it into a dough.

3. Now in a pan add bay leaf, cinnomon stick, cloves, salt, curd and water. Bring to boil.

4. When it’s boiling put chicken balls. You cannot make perfect balls. But pinch it with your fingers and put it in boiling water.

5. Turn the sides and cook it well. It will take nearly 10-12 minutes.

6. Remove it from boiling water and you can put this in normal puzhi kuzhambu or in thick gravy to make side dish for roti.
