Amla sugar syrup recipe | Sweet healthy Nellikkai recipe is a tasty recipe prepared with hlthy sour amlas which is also called as “Nellikkai” in tamil, and sugar. Other name is gooseberry. We have already seen so many recipes with Amla.

ingredients:-

  • Amla/gooseberry/ nellikkaai – 1/4 kg
  • Sugar – 1/4 cup
  • water – 1/2 cup

Method:-

1. Wash and pat dry goose berries. Cut into slices along the lines in gooseberries and remove the seeds as shown in the photo below.

2. Put Kadaai in low flame and add gooseberry slices to it along with sugar.

3. Stir often and turn the sides. Now sugar will start to melt and it will become watery.

4. Keep in low flame and stir until it turns to a golden brown colour.

5. Add half a cup of water after it turns golden brown. Let it boil. Switch off the stove once it boils.  Don’t keep in flame for a long time till it becomes thick. Cool down to room temperature and store it in a container. Enjoy the pieces when ever needed. It has a lot of health benefit.
